The project is located in one of the last areas to be developed in the “new city” of Cergy-Pontoise, created by the French government in the 1960s. The new neighborhood, which includes the construction of 1500 housing units, does not have a pre-existing urban context to rely on. Therefore, the former field on which it is located is used as a common landscape to unify the entire neighborhood. A part of this natural space is developed and used for recreational purposes, while the other part is left in its natural state and serves for water management. Instead of a homogeneous density with three to five-story buildings, the project proposes two main typologies: one of low height with small individual gardens, and one of medium height (up to 8 stories) with breathtaking views of the expansive natural landscape.
