Building an Olympic and Paralympic village has often involved creating a closed boundary within which various facilities are constructed, designed to be as functional as possible for the athletes during the Games.
In the context of this project, the consortium of project management proposed approaching the Athletes’ Village with a long-term perspective of city development, where the Olympic use forms a significant yet temporary stage.
Instead of an autonomous and foreign enclave detached from its host territory, it becomes a genuine metropolitan neighborhood, welcoming and innovative, made available during the Games.
Athletes from around the world are offered an experience of the Greater Paris region, its cultural richness, dynamism, geographical and landscape qualities. Spanning three municipalities (Saint-Ouen, Saint-Denis, L’Île Saint-Denis), encompassing the Seine within its boundaries, the site constitutes a mixed-use territory, already inhabited and subject to transformation.
