“Rise-up midtown” is an ambitious urban vision for Midtown Atlanta, the most densely populated neighborhood in the capital of Georgia, known for its low density and sprawling scale.
While drawing on the city’s rich cultural and economic history to ensure its continued prominence as the primary center in the southeastern United States, the goal is to regain a sense of growth and vibrancy, as observed particularly after the formation of the Midtown Alliance in 1978 but slowed down by various economic crises. The proposal focuses on four key elements: accessibility, urbanity, sustainability, and equity.
Building on the community-driven plan, “Rise-up Midtown” aims to intensify land use and revitalize public spaces, foster better integration with nearby residential fabric, promote mixed-use development, activate ground floors, create programming that connects fragmented urban spaces and engages both local and metropolitan audiences, thus offering an active neighborhood at all times.
