Metamorphosis Workshop: Discussions on the Transformations of the Paris Region

The final presentation and jury debate day of the 41st International Workshop on Urban Design “Metamorphosis – Cities and Territories Facing Climate Challenges” took place on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Territorial Cohesion.

Marine Oudard is delighted to have supported the workshops and participants as a scientific co-pilot (alongside Raphael Besson, an expert in urban socio-economics and a Ph.D. holder in territorial sciences, Laboratory PACTE, University of Grenoble).

The 15 international participants (South Africa, Algeria, Argentina, the United States, France, Greece, India, Japan, Morocco, Mexico, Switzerland) engaged in a reflection on the transformations of territories in the context of Zero Net Artificialization, environmental urgencies, and lifestyle changes, particularly revealed during the COVID pandemic. This multiscale work was carried out with the involvement of elected officials and the teams from the application areas of the workshop, Orly and Goussainville.

Visit the workshop’s page for more details and check the session booklet to explore the proposals arising from this workshop!

URBASTUDIO has won the bid for the Grand Pré/Portes de Rosny area

URBASTUDIO has won the bid for urban and environmental studies in the Grand Pré/Portes de Rosny area!

The office is excited to support SPL Paredev in the transformation of the northern sector of the city, which is set to become a prominent multimodal hub with the extension of Metro Line 11 and the arrival of Grand Paris Express Line 15. Currently characterized by the presence of large infrastructures and the Rosny 2 shopping center amidst residential neighborhoods and large housing complexes, the area must evolve into a future post-carbon neighborhood that serves as a demonstrator for the region!

And for this project, we have an exceptional team and partners: Urban Eco for urban ecology and landscape, Degouy for civil engineering studies, and Alphaville for programming and operational planning.

A new metropolitan chapter for Rosny-sous-bois ?

Les Ateliers – International workshops of planning and urban design

Marine Oudard is delighted to participate as a scientific lead in the 41st International Workshop on Urban Design in Île-de-France: Metamorphoses – Reshaping Cities and Territories in the Face of Climate Challenges.

The 2023 session aligns with ongoing discussions on combating soil artificialization (ZAN objective) through the following questions:
– How can we fight against soil artificialization ?
– Can we improve residents’ quality of life by densifying the city, or should we instead avoid hyper-concentration ?
– How can we address current challenges—climate, environmental, social—across territories with various scales and characteristics ?
– How can we accommodate the diversity of living and working patterns ?
– How can we better coexist urban and natural environments ?

Thematic roundtables will be organized throughout the year, and a three-week workshop in September will bring together young professionals from around the world to engage in innovative thinking about territories in Île-de-France.
