Since the opening of the Velodrome and the Olympic Swimming Pool in Berlin in 1997, the Prendzlauer Berg neighborhood has undergone profound transformation. As a catalyst for the transformation of this neighborhood, the facility is now surrounded by new offices, residences, and activities. It no longer shines solely at the metropolitan scale but actively contributes to the local life.
The sports loop aims to create a new strategic link between these new neighborhoods, assert the role of soft modes of transportation and pedestrians in this still heterogeneous urban fabric, and encourage physical and sports activities around this iconic site.
