In the face of ecological collapse and global climate change, how can we reconcile, within this 950-hectare territory enclosed by the iconic 13.6 km race track, the occasional hosting of nearly 250,000 visitors with a commitment to sustainable practices that respect the environment?
The project is ambitious: to open up the Circuit des 24H du Mans by developing an urban park that would connect the circuit with surrounding sports facilities through a large sports loop. The goal is to transform this territory into a year-round destination for everyone, rather than just a few days in June when nearly 250,000 visitors descend upon it.
Moreover, the project must be future-oriented, supporting and showcasing the profound ecological transformation of motorsports. Sustainable mobility options and pedestrian spaces for visitors will promote the use of electricity and hydrogen as clean fuels for racing.
Renewable energies and sustainable water management will further signify the circuit’s transition, and more broadly, the territory’s transition, toward an urban ecosystem that respects the environment and relies on innovation to make the necessary shift for its sustainability.
